UNDP-EU partnership: stories from the field

Here you will find stories that illustrate the partnership between UNDP and the Europan Union in the field. Given that our partnership covers 140 countries and spans over a decade, these stories represent just a fraction of what we do together. They are however important as they show what difference our partnership makes in the lives of people. They show how we help empower people and support the building of resilient nations.

    Going to school was never a real possibility for the children in the Bangladesh village of Alutila, a remote hamlet that houses a smattering of villages in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. With the UNDP-EU support 300 community-run schools and 700 teachers are improving enrollment and attendance rates in the CHT.

    The Bandabuliya (Old Market) in Cyprus renovated thanks to the EU funds by UNDP-PFF in 2006 has now reopened as a Women Cultural Center. The project called ‘’When Tradition Meets Innovation’’ was founded on this very principle of empowering local women.
